Full Job Description Description Job Summary:
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for receiving, validating, documenting, and responding to requests for information contained in medical records. This role will primarily handle inquiries from third-party payors.
Essential Functions:
Prioritize and respond to release of information requests within required timeframes. Retrieve and release medical records upon authorized request and in accordance with federal and state laws and company policy. Document and fulfill medical records requests and/or submit requests to approved vendor for fulfillment. Collaborate with appropriate functional departments and staff to investigate and resolve issues related to documentation. Perform self-quality checks to assure record completeness, accuracy of the release, and confidentiality. Meets measures as determined and required for job productivity and quality. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and facility information processed. Track records for audits and quality control. Other Duties as

Education/Licensure/Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent (required) Postsecondary certificate in health information or medical office administration (preferred)
Required Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 Experience Required Must have Release of Information experience - HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 Previous experience with electronic health records or other related office experience
Skill and Ability:
Ability to handle confidential information responsibly Attention to detail and accuracy Strong written and verbal communication skills Job or State Requirements HS diploma or equivalent
