Job Description
What we're looking for: As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, CNS Healthcare's mission is to serve the people of our communities. The Health Information Management (HIM) Representative is the custodian of the organization's medical records, safeguarding privacy and confidentiality of personal health information of consumers and patients. The HIM Representative is knowledgeable in HIPAA regulation requirements and experienced in handling medical records, storage, retrieval and the authorized dissemination of such, in working with internal and external stakeholders.
Compensation Range:
The starting pay for this position is $17.00 - $23.00 hourly rate, and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience. Essential Functions:
Release of medical records when properly authorized and compliant to HIPAA. Obtain medical records from healthcare institutions when authorized. Filing, storage, and archival of electronic and paper medical records for quick retrieval, and compliant to document storage policies. Tracking and logging of medical record requests and procurement of medical records from healthcare institutions. Data-entry and scanning of medical records into the electronic health record system. Distribution of incoming mail and faxes to all departments and locations. Maintains medical records and alerts the supervisor of potential concerns. Demonstrates strong attention to detail when reviewing, entering, scanning, filing, and maintaining medical record information to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirement
Required:
Minimum High School Diploma. One or more years' experience in an office environment. A mental health setting or medical office setting is preferred. Ability to work well under pressure in a busy office environment in a variety of situations involving medical record requests and procurements, including working with courts, lawyers, guardians and healthcare institutions. Excellent customer care orientation skills are necessary to deal effectively with various levels of staff, consumers, patients and the public. Experienced in electronic health record systems, and computer skills particularly with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel). Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously Ability to use discretion and judgmental when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature Advanced time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Certification. Additional Eligibility Requirements- Must have current valid and unrestricted state driver's license Must have insured vehicle available for work purposes. Position type and expected hours of work Full time. This position will work typically Monday through Friday 8:30a to 5pm with a 30-minute lunch. This position may require occasional weekend or evening work beyond an 8-hour day. Travel This position may require occasional travel during the workday to other locations. Work environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. Works in an office environment with the usual pressures of completing projects/tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Because of multiple sites with the department it is common to drive to several locations, sometimes in inclement weather
