Job Description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to support order processing and documentation activities for an organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Contract position focuses on coordinating medical record review, maintaining accurate patient information, and working closely with clinical contacts to secure the documentation needed for insurance claim submission. The role is well suited for someone who can manage priorities effectively, communicate professionally with healthcare stakeholders, and help keep service levels on track.
Responsibilities:
  • Review clinical records to confirm required details are present and aligned with payer coverage guidelines before orders move forward.
  • Partner with clinicians, clinic personnel, healthcare teams, and patients to gather missing paperwork and keep orders progressing toward shipment.
  • Enter, update, and maintain patient and account information in electronic record systems with a high level of accuracy.
  • Act as a central point of coordination for documentation follow-up, helping resolve delays related to claims and order fulfillment.
  • Monitor turnaround expectations and complete work in a timely manner to support departmental performance goals.
  • Maintain access and registration details for payer portals and use those systems to support documentation and claim-related activities.
  • Take part in team training sessions, one-on-one meetings, and group discussions to stay current on procedures and expectations.
  • Support colleagues as needed, including assisting with onboarding, account support activities, product-related changes, and process improvement efforts.
  • Follow all applicable company standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental procedures while handling sensitive medical information. Requirements
  • Experience working with medical records, patient charts, or health information documentation in a clinical, medical device, or related environment.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and electronic documentation platforms, including familiarity with tools such as Allscripts or Cerner.
  • Working knowledge of order entry, order management, order fulfillment, or insurance documentation workflows.
  • Ability to review records carefully, identify missing information, and maintain accurate data in patient and account files.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clinicians, clinic staff, patients, and internal teams.
  • Understanding of medical billing or payer documentation requirements, including support for claim submission processes.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting service deadlines.
