Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Medical Insurance Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team. Duties Review and verify insurance coverage details for patient procedures, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate Submit insurance prior authorization requests using electronic health records (EHR) systems and follow up on approval statuses Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain additional information or clarification needed for authorization processes Maintain detailed records of authorization requests, approvals, denials, and appeals in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to accurately document medical procedures and diagnoses for insurance submissions Communicate effectively with managed care organizations, insurance companies, and patients to resolve authorization issues promptly Ensure adherence to health insurance policy guidelines and stay updated on changes in insurance requirements or regulations Skills Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times Proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and electronic health record (EHR) systems Experience with medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards Familiarity with health insurance policies, managed care processes, and insurance verification procedures Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and insurers Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes Knowledge of medical billing processes and insurance prior authorization workflows Experience with procedure scheduling.
