Job Summary JuzSolutions LLC is seeking an experienced Medical Records Director (RHIT/RHIA) to oversee health information and medical records operations within a correctional healthcare setting in Hagerstown, Maryland. This position is responsible for directing medical records activities and personnel, maintaining accurate and confidential health records, ensuring compliance with established policies and regulatory requirements, conducting chart audits, supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives, and training and supervising medical records staff. The Medical Records Director will also prepare required reports, monitor documentation compliance, address health-record-related legal correspondence, and support the overall efficient operation of the Medical Records Department. Candidates must possess a current RHIT or RHIA credential, have at least five years of medical records experience and one year of supervisory experience, and be able to meet applicable security clearance requirements. Responsibilities Direct medical records activities and personnel within the assigned area. Maintain an organized medical records system that protects the integrity and confidentiality of health information. Ensure medical records are accurate, complete, accessible, and maintained in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Train and supervise medical records and clerical personnel. Conduct chart audits and monitor records for documentation deficiencies. Develop and support continuous quality improvement initiatives related to health information management. Prepare routine, statistical, and special reports. Monitor compliance with Department of Correction and healthcare documentation requirements. Develop corrective action plans related to medical records audits and compliance findings. Manage employee attendance, performance, training, policy compliance, and other supervisory responsibilities. Coordinate medical records preparation for legal proceedings and serve as records custodian when required. Participate in departmental, facility, quality improvement, and medical records meetings. Required Qualifications Current RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) credential Credentialing through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Minimum 5 years of medical records / health information management experience Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience Current CPR certification Ability to successfully complete required security clearance/background requirements Strong knowledge of health information management, medical records compliance, confidentiality, quality assurance, and documentation standards Work Environment This is an onsite position within a correctional healthcare environment . The position may require interaction with healthcare personnel, correctional personnel, facility administration, patients, vendors, state offices, and other stakeholders. Some travel between assigned facilities may be required.
