University of Michigan Health-West (Formally Metro Health) is looking for a
Regional Professional Coding Supervisor General Summary:
The Professional Coding Supervisor is accountable for the management and coordination of system-wide coding functions. This position is responsible for identifying and solving coding related issues, implementing performance improvement and other operational initiatives as needed. Ensures staff adherence to productivity, quality, and compliance standards and is supportive of departmental metrics and organizational goals and objectives.
Requirements:
Associate's degree in HIM or relevant health care field or 5+ years of relevant Coding experience
Foundational Coding Credential:
Current certification in good standing as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), AAPC; or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), AHIMA Minimum of 1 year of lead or supervisory experience Epic experience. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet applications Bachelor's degree preferred. Optum and/or 3M encoder experience preferred.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Provide oversight and day-to-day management of the hospital professional coding. Develop and implement methods to attain and maintain coding metrics. Establish reporting tools/dashboards to monitor performance. Communicate regulatory information to coding specialists and assist in compliant application of regulations. Provide coding assistance in relation to recording documentation, data collections, data retrieval and data interpretation. Contribute to, coordinates and/or implements processes to comply with coding, billing, regulatory or data registry requirements relating to areas of responsibility. Collaborate with other departments or programs. Maintain effective communication regarding coding issues with physicians and other hospital department staff. Participate in organizational team meetings and workshops. Performs other duties as assigned. These may include but are not limited to: Maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
