THE POSITION

As a Medical Records Supervisor for the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene, you will take on a key role that supports staff and inmates through well-organized health information management. This position allows you to shape how medical records are handled and ensure the highest standards of accuracy. Your work will support better decision making and quality care across the institution. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees the daily handling and long-term organization of inmate medical records to support smooth health care operations at SCI Greene. The role blends supervisory responsibilities with hands-on record management tasks. As a Medical Records Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

Staff Supervision:

Manage and review assignments for subordinate staff to ensure timely and accurate completion

Record System Management:

Organize and monitor the integrated health record system while applying coding standards and compliance requirements

Record Handling:

File, issue, and transfer records according to confidentiality rules and legal guidelines, including preparing records for transfers or legal proceedings

Quality Review:

Examine medical records for completeness and accuracy and refer inadequate entries to appropriate clinical staff

Statistical Reporting:

Prepare periodic reports on subjects such as morbidity, mortality, and utilization of services

Quality Assurance Participation:

Serve on the Medical Department Quality Assurance Committee and evaluate maintenance methods to identify improvements Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description .

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday

  • Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary:

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirement:

You must have possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.

Post Employment Requirement:

If you meet the Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification, you must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.

Other Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:

You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
