Health Information Management Specialist Schedule:
Monday through Friday | No Weekends Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to meeting deadlines? We are seeking a Health Information Management Specialist to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining the accuracy, security, and accessibility of patient health records. Position Summary The Health Information Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient health information. This role supports the organization's health information management processes through medical record analysis, document scanning, release of information requests, and ongoing record maintenance. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient health records. Perform medical record analysis to ensure documentation is complete and compliant. Scan, index, and manage patient records within electronic medical record systems. Process Release of Information (ROI) requests in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies. Maintain and organize medical records to support efficient retrieval and accessibility. Answer and manage the hospital's main switchboard line, directing calls appropriately and providing courteous, professional customer service to patients, visitors, providers, and staff. Respond to inquiries from patients, providers, and staff with professionalism and excellent customer service. Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure accurate and timely health information management. Meet established deadlines and productivity standards while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations, privacy standards, and hospital policies. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare-related education preferred. Previous experience in Health Information Management, Medical Records, or a healthcare administrative role preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) systems preferred. Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
