Job Description
A Medical Records Clerk is responsible for maintaining, organizing, and safeguarding patient health information in accordance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards. This role ensures medical records are accurate, complete, and accessible to authorized personnel while supporting the efficient operation of healthcare facilities. Review records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies. Process requests for medical information while adhering to HIPAA confidentiality requirements. Scan, index, and upload medical documents into electronic health record (EHR) systems. Retrieve and distribute patient records to authorized healthcare providers and departments. Assist with auditing records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. File laboratory reports, diagnostic results, and physician documentation promptly. Respond to inquiries regarding patient records and medical documentation. Protect patient privacy by maintaining strict confidentiality of health information. Support administrative and clerical functions within the Health Information Management (HIM) department.
