TEMPORARY POSITION POSITION SUMMARY
The Health Information Technician II is responsible for various aspects of patient medical records content.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions. Greets patients, determining the appropriate routing of patient requests. Screens incoming calls, releasing general information concerning services and privacy policies, photocopying charges, turn-around time, and authorization requirements. Provides health information to properly authorized telephone requests from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys. Triages, attaches, and assigns incoming faxes accurately within EMR. Accurately scans incoming paper correspondence to Patient Documentation section of EMR in accordance with procedures. Responds to requests for medical information in a medical emergency. Performs other duties as required or assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Advanced clerical training including typing, basic filing, office procedures and medical record terminology and practice. Strong knowledge of electronic medical record systems; knowledge of eClinicalWorks & EPIC preferred. A minimum of 2 years' experience in a medical records department. Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese in addition to English preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Advanced clerical training including typing, basic filing, office procedures and medical record terminology and practice. Relevant experience in clerical duties sufficient for individual development to the level of independent functioning. Computer literate. Proficient in the use of electronic medical record (EMR). Experience with eClinicalWorks preferred. Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese in addition to English. Interest and commitment in working with low-income and minority people.
