This vital role involves providing exceptional patient care, assisting physicians during examinations and procedures, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. Responsibilities Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for patient visits. Assist OB/GYN providers during patient examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries with precision and care. Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and other pertinent patient information accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support patient intake processes by verifying insurance details, updating medical records, and addressing patient inquiries professionally. Administer medications, perform phlebotomy, and assist with basic laboratory tests following safety protocols. Maintain detailed medical documentation, including progress notes, procedure reports, and ICD coding for accurate billing and recordkeeping. Ensure compliance with infection control standards, HIPAA regulations, and hospital policies at all times. Requirements Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program. Prior experience in OB/GYN settings or outpatient clinics highly preferred; hospital or emergency medicine experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding practices. Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR platforms; familiarity with hospital information systems is advantageous. Ability to perform clinical tasks including vital signs measurement, medication administration, phlebotomy, and basic life support (BLS). Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically in diverse healthcare environments. Inpatient experience or Level I/II trauma center exposure is desirable; outpatient experience in obstetrics or gynecology is preferred.
