ENT for Kids Alabama is a small medical private practice that values its employees, and encourages all staff members to engage in team work. Therefore, while this position mainly involves scheduling patients, checking patients in and out, and verifying insurance benefits, it also provides the opportunities more directe patient engagment. An initial interview and possible on-site visit will be conducted for qualifying candidates between Monday, September 28th and Friday, October 1st. The position start date will be immediate, and will involve a 3 day training process and a 30 day trial period. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression and efficient check-in process Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, ModMed, or Athenahealth Verify patient insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical collections with accuracy and professionalism Manage patient records by updating, filing, and maintaining electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations Answer multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages when necessary Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating medical histories in the system Support medical office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining office supplies Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure timely patient follow-up appointments Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to clinical confidentiality policies Assist providers and medical assistants in clinic if needed. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role within a healthcare setting such as clinics or dental offices Strong communication skills Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, ModMed, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and health insurance processes including Medicare procedures Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and basic computer skills for documentation review and data entry Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Experience working with health information management policies and clinical confidentiality standards is highly desirable Experience in childhood development, family dynamics, and conflict resolution is highly desirable Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for specific software systems
