Full Job Description About Us:
North Alabama Specialty Hospital specializes in the management of patients with complex medical needs. Services provided include ventilator management and weaning, infectious disease management, and complex wound care. North Alabama Specialty Hospital is managed by Priority Hospital Group and is part of a joint venture with Huntsville Hospital. The Unit Secretary provides administrative and clerical support to the nursing unit and healthcare team. This position helps maintain efficient daily operations by coordinating communication, managing patient information, assisting with admissions and discharges, and supporting nurses, physicians, patients, and visitors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Answer and direct telephone calls and respond to patient, family, and visitor inquiries. Greet patients, families, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Maintain accurate patient records, charts, and electronic health information. Enter and update patient information in the hospital's computer system. Schedule diagnostic tests, procedures, transportation, and other patient services as directed. Communicate patient information and requests to appropriate members of the healthcare team. Process physician orders and other unit documentation according to hospital policies. Assist nurses and other healthcare professionals with clerical and administrative tasks. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies. Maintain an organized nursing station and assist with general unit workflow. Monitor all telemetry monitors at the nurse station Perform other duties as assigned by the nurse manager or supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous healthcare, hospital, medical office, or clerical experience required Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer and data-entry skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to work effectively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
