Job Description

The Medical Receptionist (Patient Care Representative) - is responsible for front office duties which can include greeting patients at the front desk or by phone in a pleasant, friendly, helpful manner. and checking out patients when the office visit is complete. Duties and Responsibilities Meets and greets all patients with a smile and friendly, helpful manner; announces, directs and/or escorts to the appropriate area. Answers, screens, and directs calls on multi-line phone system; takes detailed messages and/or forwards telephone calls to the appropriate person, or voicemail. Monitors sign-in sheet, obtains initial patientinformation and enters data into the EMR system. Verifies and copies all insurance cards and or/verifies insurance via carrier database. Enters any changes in patient data into the EMR system. Collects appropriate copayments at the front desk. Scans and uploads all patient documents into the patient's chart on the EMR. Notifies medical assistant via EMR software as each patient completes the check-in procedure and is ready to be seen. The Receptionist-Medical - monitors patients in the waiting room for signs of illness or other problems. Maintains Patient Registration Forms and other forms as needed and straightens front desk area as patient flow allows. Qualifications Education / Experience skills in is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds. Proven procedures and handling payments. Knowledge of medical terminology helpful. Professional appearance and demeanor.
