The receptionist ensures that all patients, surgeons, and visitors are greeted in a timely and friendly fashion. The receptionist is responsible for maintaining work area in a pristine fashion and will perform or assist with clerical/secretarial functions within the office.
Position/Purpose :
The receptionist ensures that all patients, surgeons and visitors are greeted in a timely and friendly fashion. The receptionist is responsible for maintaining work area in a pristine fashion and will perform or assist with clerical/secretarial functions within the office. Essential Responsibilities will include the following, and other duties may be assigned. Front-office duties include telephone coverage, patient check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, new patient registration, checking insurance eligibility and obtaining authorizations, collecting co-pays filling out and submitting insurance forms, sorting mail etc. Looking for service oriented, professional team player, with ability to work independently. Reliable consistency. Able to multi-task. Computer literacy and familiarity with electronic medical records. Professional appearance and attitude.

None Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience:
High school graduation or equivalent. Medical terminology, computer and office equipment skills required. Ability to work within the team and independently. Ability to handle confidential information. Ability to handle multiple tasks. Ability to lift objects up to 15 pounds. Ability to use computer and word processing software. (Word and Excel) Ability to utilize time effectively. Excellent professional, organizational, and communication skills. General office and secretarial skills preferred. Must treat all patients and employees information as confidential.
Primary Position Responsibilities :
Assumes responsibility for pristine environment. Responsible for the overall appearance of the lobby/waiting area. Maintains work area in an organized and neat manner, and that patient admission/intake is handled in a confidential manner. Participates in admission process. Admits patients in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner according to procedures. Gathers accurate and complete financial, insurance, and personal demographic information. Demonstrates an understanding of the insurance verification process and some understanding of the methods to obtain cursory authorizations for insurers for us to provide needed care. Collects for self-pay portions of bills. Conducts an interview to obtain biographical information. General understanding of both State and Federal laws that affect our ability to collect balances due from patients, insurers, and/or their agents. Assists in other Surgery Center business office personnel as needed. Assist with daily processing of mail Assist with projects as requested by management. Prepare charts and all forms completely and accurately for charts for the following day. (Labels, consents & any required paperwork for patient) Assist with faxing reports such as lab reports and pathology reports to appropriate surgeons. Assist with uploading surgeon's dictations to the transcription site. Responsible for greeting patients and guests upon entry in a friendly and helpful manner, using proper telephone etiquette. Communicates insurance benefits to patients and families. Tact and understanding to deal with patients and medical personnel to admit patients. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.

$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
