The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures, and a passion for providing exceptional patient service. As a Dental Receptionist, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, handling medical records, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your role is vital in creating a welcoming environment while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality policies. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression. Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks. Verify patient insurance coverage and process medical billing and collections accurately, including Medicare and health insurance claims. Manage patient records with meticulous attention to documentation review, HIPAA compliance, and clinical confidentiality policies. Assist with medical coding tasks, including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD-10 coding to ensure accurate billing and recordkeeping. Handle phone communication with patients and providers using proper phone etiquette; respond promptly to inquiries. Maintain organized medical records and ensure electronic health records (EHR) management aligns with health information management standards. Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans and scheduling follow-up appointments as needed. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for administrative support tasks such as data entry, report generation, and correspondence. Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills essential for managing electronic health records systems and office operations. Uphold office experience standards by providing exceptional customer service at the front desk while adhering to office policies. Skills Strong knowledge of medical office management practices including medical billing, coding (ICD-9/10), and health insurance processes. Experience working within dental clinics or healthcare settings with familiarity in dental-specific procedures is preferred. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual abilities are highly valued to assist diverse patient populations effectively. Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance. Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—and phone etiquette to facilitate clear interactions with patients and team members. Ability to perform 10-key typing accurately for data entry tasks; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is advantageous. Experience in medical administrative support roles involving documentation review, appointment scheduling, and patient service excellence.
