Handle phone communication with professionalism, answering inquiries about appointments, insurance, and treatment plans while maintaining proper phone etiquette. Collect and process payments, insurance claims, and medical collections with attention to detail and accuracy. Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) confidentiality policies. Verify insurance coverage, explain benefits, and assist patients with health insurance questions related to Medicare or other providers. Support clinical staff by managing appointment schedules, coordinating care plans, and facilitating communication between patients and providers. Requirements Proven experience in a medical or dental office setting with strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Familiarity with medical billing, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 coding (International Classification of Diseases), and documentation review processes. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for administrative tasks. Strong understanding of health insurance policies, medical terminology, and health information management standards. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle phone communication professionally and courteously. Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology is a plus. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining clinical confidentiality at all times.
