32726 Other duties as assigned. Performs other duties as requested to ensure efficient operation of Surgical Services, including covering duties of other secretarial roles within the department. Supervises clerical staff and ensures effective departmental operations, including ordering office supplies and maintaining equipment. Participates in the interviewing, hiring, and orientation process for clerical staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels. Communicates professionally with customers, answering telephone calls promptly and responding to messages in a timely manner. Maintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff. Evaluates and follows up on customer complaints, taking appropriate action to ensure positive outcomes and involving leadership as needed. Runs reports from the Surgery Information System to assist in maintaining department statistics and executes special projects as assigned. Oversees scheduling activities, assists scheduling staff with questions and conflicts, and ensures complete and timely data entry for patient charges. Accesses various computer programs to retrieve patient information while maintaining confidentiality at all times. Coordinates staffing functions, including payroll and scheduling, and works with the Surgery Management team to ensure appropriate staffing coverage. Maintains position control records and assists in maintaining employee files.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements. [Required] Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. [Required] Must be able to type at least 25 wpm. [Required] Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. [Required] Knowledge of Medical Terminology [Required] Knowledge of Powerpoint, Surgery Computer Systems and other graphics and database programs desirable. [Preferred]
Education:
High School Grad or Equiv [Preferred]
Work Experience:
1+ professional secretarial, physician office or hospital experience [Required] Supervisory experience [Preferred]

Pay Range:
