Our focus is on providing our patients with advanced, non-opioid based therapies for the improvement of their pain conditions. We are seeking an Medical Office Coordinator who is a reliable, experienced, energetic team-player with exceptional customer service skills, capable of providing an outstanding patient experience.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Medical Receptionist/Surgery Scheduler works to ensure that patients' health care benefits cover required office visits and procedures. Employee will contact patients' insurance companies and Primary Care offices to verify coverage levels, obtain authorization of covered services and work with patients to educate them on their benefits while assisting them with financial guidance to get the medical care they need approved. Additionally, the key responsibilities are as follows: Accurately carries out the responsibility for verifying patient insurance coverage Ensure that necessary office visits and procedures are covered by the insurance provider for multiple facility locations (ASC, Hospital and in offices). Demonstrates proficiency in working with insurance companies and has extensive knowledge of different types of coverages and policies. Demonstrates excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work on many projects at once. Must be detail-oriented and organized, and maintains accurate patient insurance records. Ability to focus and work quickly, and can process patient insurance paperwork in a timely manner. Serves as a trusted resource to patients, providing them with pertinent information regarding their coverage. Clearly explains to patients the coverage amounts provided by their insurance policy so they can understand why some procedures may be covered, while others are not. Proficient in the use of insurance-specific portals to accurately verify insurance coverage and patient responsibility (eg, Availity). Uses good judgement in contacting the patient for discovered unforeseen issues (i.e. anticipated procedure not covered, large co-pay or co-insurance, patient's insurance premium was not paid) Provides immediate verification of benefits as needed for same or next day added-on patient appointments. Must have clear and strong understanding if in-network and out-of- network insurance benefits and how they work with payers along with deductibles, co-pays and co-insurance. Understands how to navigate medical record system to document and track authorizations. Also understands all administrative functions of EMR including the scheduling component. Schedule cases at hospital or surgery center. Will need to communicate with scheduling staff at these facilities. Greet patients in a pleasant and professional manner Check in/out patients, collect copays and coinsurance as directed Collections of previous outstanding balances when directed Process new patient referrals Schedule patient office appointments and procedures Answer incoming telephone calls and make outbound telephone calls as necessary Check phone, fax and email messages and respond accordingly Request referrals from primary care physicians and other duties as necessary Perform all End of Day operations as they pertain to front office Ensure patient waiting area, exam rooms and restrooms are maintained Chart and enter data into patient's electronic record (eClinicalWorks) Work primarily in Sun City Center office location, and 1-2 days/week in Bradenton office
Education:
High school or equivalent required. College level courses preferred.
Requirements Insurance authorization and verification:
4 years Electronic medical records system: 3 years (preferably eClinicalWorks ) Working knowledge of Medical Terminology, Insurance Terminology, ICD.10 and CPT codes, especially as they pertain to pain medicine. Thorough understanding of medical office workflow Minimum of High school diploma or GED certificate. Reliable transportation and punctuality a must!
