Medical terminology Full Job Description Elite Women's Health is searching for a full-time, goal-oriented, revenue-driven, highly accurate and motivated receptionist. The candidate must work well with others and have a professional and friendly disposition.
Duties:
Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner Answer multi-line phone system Complete insurance verification Schedule patient appointments Collect patient copay/balances Update patient demographic information and insurance information at every appointment Scan insurance cards Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures. Check eligibility and benefits verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures. Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information. Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances. Review accounts for insurance of patient follow-up. Set up patient payment plans and work collection accounts. Qualifications and Skills Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare and other payer requirements and systems. Competent use of computer systems; Experience with Athena EHR is a plus Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 Coding. Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers to resolve issues. Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including communicating with patients and family members of diverse ages and backgrounds. Ability to work well in a team environment. Being able to triage priorities, delegate tasks if needed, and handle conflict in a reasonable fashion. Must be able to follow directions quickly and efficiently with varying workloads and interruptions. Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections. A calm manner and patience working with either patients or insurers during this process. Knowledge of medical terminology likely to be encountered in medical claims. Maintaining patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA). Ability to multitask. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Education and Experience Required High school diploma 2-5 years of medical receptionist experience preferred
