The ideal candidate is organized, confident, compassionate, and able to multitask in a fast-paced medical office while providing excellent customer service to our patients. Position Summary The Medical Receptionist is responsible for creating a positive first impression for patients and supporting the efficient daily operation of the nephrology clinic. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities throughout the day. Key Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner. Answer and direct incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments. Check patients in and out accurately. Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information. Collect copayments, balances, and other patient payments as required. Review schedules and assist with maintaining an efficient patient flow. Prepare and maintain patient charts and required documentation. Scan, upload, and accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record. Handle incoming and outgoing faxes and route documents to the appropriate staff. Communicate effectively with patients, providers, pharmacies, laboratories, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, paperwork, and general office procedures. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and office policies. Monitor and respond appropriately to front-desk messages and requests. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area. Work closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate assistance. Perform other administrative duties as assigned. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will: Be dependable and punctual with excellent attendance. Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills. Be able to multitask and prioritize in a busy medical environment. Take initiative rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done. Take pride in their work and pay close attention to detail. Have a professional, positive, and courteous attitude. Communicate clearly and effectively with patients and coworkers. Demonstrate compassion and patience when working with patients. Be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. Be able to remain calm and professional in stressful situations. Be willing to learn and follow established office procedures. Demonstrate accountability and take ownership of assigned responsibilities. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous medical office or healthcare experience preferred. Previous experience with medical scheduling and electronic medical records preferred. Knowledge of insurance verification and medical office procedures is a plus. Experience in nephrology, dialysis, or another specialty medical practice is preferred but not required. Strong computer and typing skills. Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
