Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our vibrant dental team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a warm, welcoming environment while efficiently managing front desk operations. Your energetic approach and excellent communication skills will help streamline patient scheduling, handle medical administrative support, and maintain accurate dental records. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient care and clinic efficiency through your expertise in medical office management and health information systems. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding customer service at the front desk Schedule appointments using dental practice management software and coordinate patient flow effectively Verify patient insurance coverage, including health insurance knowledge related to Medicare and other plans, ensuring accurate billing and documentation review Manage electronic health records (EHR) in OpenDental for seamless record keeping and data entry Handle medical billing and collections, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and claims processing Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding clinical confidentiality policies and managing sensitive medical records Answer phone inquiries with professional phone etiquette, schedule appointments, and address patient questions promptly Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry with 10 key typing skills, and maintaining organized medical records Support clinical staff with documentation review, care plans updates, and administrative tasks related to dental clinic operations Utilize computer skills across Microsoft Office suite for report generation, correspondence, and record management Experience Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Office Assistant in a clinical setting, preferably within a dental clinic environment Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is highly desirable Strong knowledge of medical terminology, health information management, and medical billing procedures including CPT coding and ICD coding standards Experience with insurance verification processes including claims is preferred Demonstrated ability to handle medical administrative support tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy in documentation review Excellent customer service skills with bilingual capabilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations Prior clinic experience involving medical scheduling, phone communication, filing systems, and office management is highly valued Join our team where your enthusiasm meets purpose!
