Job Description

Optical Team Member DeKalb Optometric is a locally owned, multi-doctor optometry practice that has proudly served the DeKalb community for more than 70 years. We're looking for a dependable, motivated team member who enjoys helping patients, takes pride in their work, and wants to become a valued, long-term part of our practice. Optical experience is welcome, but not required. We are interested in experienced opticians as well as strong candidates who are eager to learn and develop skills across multiple areas of an optometry practice.

Works independently and takes initiative Notices what needs to be done and takes action Follows through without repeated reminders Takes responsibility for mistakes and works to correct them Is dependable and understands that patients and coworkers rely on them Is willing to ask questions, accept feedback, and keep learning Takes pride in doing things correctly and completely Contributes to the team because they recognize what needs to be done About the Position This is a hands-on, patient-facing position with opportunities to work in several areas of the practice. Depending on experience and practice needs, responsibilities may include: Helping patients select frames and eyewear Optical orders, adjustments, and dispensing Patient check-in/check-out and front desk duties Scheduling and patient communication Preliminary testing and clinical support Insurance and administrative tasks Cross-training and assisting throughout the practice We provide hands-on training and support. Our goal is to help employees become confident, capable, and increasingly independent in their responsibilities. Schedule & Reliability Consistent attendance is essential. Our patients and team depend on each person being present, prepared, and ready to contribute. Typically 5 days per week Saturday availability is required Some weeks may include up to 6 working days , depending on patient volume and scheduling needs Shifts may extend beyond patient hours for opening and closing responsibilities Pay & Growth Competitive pay based on experience and demonstrated ability Opportunities to increase responsibility, skills, and compensation Training in optical, clinical, and administrative areas Opportunity to grow into greater responsibility within the practice Why Join Us?
