Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Referral Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing patient referrals, ensuring timely communication between patients and healthcare providers, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role is crucial in facilitating patient care and enhancing the overall efficiency of our medical office. Duties Coordinate and manage patient referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for referrals, ensuring compliance with managed care requirements. Maintain up-to-date medical records, including ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding as necessary. Communicate effectively with patients regarding their referral status and appointment scheduling. Collaborate with medical staff to ensure seamless transitions of care for patients. Handle incoming calls related to referrals, providing exceptional customer service. Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate in accordance with medical office protocols. Skills Proficiency in medical office procedures, including familiarity with medical terminology. Knowledge of ICD-10 coding; experience with ICD-9 is a plus. Strong understanding of managed care principles and insurance verification processes. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate records. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and healthcare providers. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Proficiency in using office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
