Job Description

Patient Services Representative/Ophthalmic Tech (Medical Receptionist): Join our team as a Patient Services Representative/Ophthalmic Tech and play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will contribute to creating a positive and welcoming environment. Your administrative skills and attention to detail will ensure smooth operations within the office. Duties:
  • Greet and check-in patients upon arrival, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and collect necessary co-pays or fees
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update information as needed
  • Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries or direct calls to the appropriate staff member
  • Assist with medical administrative support tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Collaborate with the dental team to provide exceptional patient care and support
  • Assist in the workup (teching) of Optometry and potentially Ophthalmology, as needed
Experience:
  • Previous experience working in an optometric office or similar healthcare setting preferred
  • Familiarity with medical systems such as Nextgen
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of medical records management and documentation practices
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff members
