The Receptionist answers the telephone, makes patient appointments, routes calls, greets patients, and updates patient records accordingly. Assists with follow-through care that may be needed such as future appointments or testing.Essential Duties :
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. Interacts with patients, family, health care providers and office staff to provide customer service to meet the needs of our patients. Performs all-encompassing registration and discharge duties. Coordinates appointment scheduling and appointment reminder calls as needed. Verifies insurance eligibility. Collects payments for co-pays, deductibles, and other patient balances. Collects all demographic and financial information in an accurate and professional manner. Assists with the training and continuing education of staff needs. Facilitates seamless information between the patient and provider, meeting the requirements of a patient centered medical home model. Manages patient referrals including scheduling, prior authorization, chart documentation, tracking and communication of scheduled appointments. Manages medical records requests, both internal and external according to policies and procedures. Maintains scanned documents including document verification within the patient chart. Maintains and supports quality initiatives by assuring accurate internal and external reporting. Answers phone line and refers patient calls to the appropriate personnel. Drafts and reviews forms for patients as directed by professional medical staff including insurance, disability, off work slips, return to work slips, worker's compensation and FMLA. Opens, reviews, prioritizes, and distributes interoffice and external mail Job Requirements General Requirements None Work Experience- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Preferred - One to two years experience in physician's office preferred
- Preferred - EPIC experience Education High school graduate or equivalent required. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately
- Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals
- Attendance is an essential element of this position
- Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
