Job Description

Medical Receptionist ensures that the front office check-in process runs smoothly and efficiently. Their primary responsibilities include greeting patients, guests, and vendors; answering phone calls; patient check-in; collection of co-pays and advising patients of their rights and responsibilities. Additional responsibilities include medical records ensuring the accuracy, safety, and confidentiality of patient records. Welcomes patients and visitors to the surgical center by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members. Assist with checking in patients and make sure schedule reflects appointment status. Introduce patients/ visitors to the appropriate personnel that will assist with their concerns. Assist with conducting confirmation calls for appointments Retrieves patient files, checks for correct sequence of papers, inserts new patient record forms, and places files in sequence for medical staff. Maintains reception area in a neat and orderly condition. Verifying financial records and collecting patient charges while filing and expediting third- party claims Participates in the medical office emergency routine when required. Summons ambulance or EMS or assists other staff members as needed. Performs other miscellaneous office duties as needed Able to relate to other health care workers and develop productive work relationships with peers and physicians. Projects a cooperative, positive helping demeanor and can perform well under stressful conditions. Is flexible and able to adjust to changes in assignments. Able to work under minimal supervision, prioritize workload and meet required deadlines. Ability to sit for long periods of time, work in front of a computer monitor and use keyboard for sustained periods of time. Able to walk about the department and hospital and lift and carry paper, notebooks up to 10 pounds without assistance.
