POSITION SUMMARY
The Unit Secretary/Hemodialysis Tech is primarily responsible for clerical functions within the patient care area of the dialysis unit.
Primary responsibilities include:
perform assigned tasks independently and efficiently; answer telephones in a timely and professional manner; accurately take and relay messages to appropriate personnel/patient; perform designated clerical duties such as maintaining manuals/records in an organized and up-to-date manner; maintain patient clipboards; assist the supervisor with specified duties; is responsible for ordering lab on patients and employees whenever needed; is responsible for having all supplies ready for lab draws on a daily, monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis. The Unit Secretary/Hemodialysis Tech, IF hemodialysis certified, will also assist when needed and directed by the nursing supervisor or RN in charge with patient care (see separate job description).
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma; experience with office machines such as copier and multi-line telephone; demonstrated ability to interact with the patients, staff, and visitors in a professional and efficient manner; desire to accept responsibility and to maintain confidentiality; willingness to function within medical setting; follow the instruction of medical professionals; experience with lab equipment; ability to use a variety of physical motions in day-to-day activity including standing, bending, turning, stooping, lifting, and climbing; and phlebotomy certification preferred, but not required.
