Job Summary:
Mercy Urgent Care is excited to welcome a dedicated PRN Medical Receptionist to join our team in Western North Carolina. In this vital role, you will help create a welcoming, efficient, and compassionate experience for every patient who walks through our doors while supporting the daily flow of a fast-paced urgent care clinic. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, stays calm under pressure, and takes pride in keeping things organized, accurate, and moving smoothly throughout the day. How You'll Contribute:
Welcome patients and visitors with professional, friendly service in person and by phone Register patients accurately, including demographic, financial, and insurance information, and update records in the EMR/EHR Verify insurance eligibility, help identify compassionate care eligibility, and explain basic payment responsibilities to patients Answer calls, route messages, support patient questions, and communicate clearly with team members, vendors, and visitors Maintain a clean, organized front desk and waiting area, and help monitor safety and security awareness in the clinic Support clinic opening and closing procedures, including alarm-related responsibilities, supply monitoring, and coordination for equipment repairs as needed
What You Bring:
High school diploma or equivalent 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare, medical office, patient access, or customer service environment preferred Strong computer, typing, phone, and written communication skills, with the ability to learn new systems quickly Comfortable handling multiple priorities at once while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and a positive attitude Working knowledge of insurance verification, registration, payment collection, and HIPAA expectations preferred Excellent customer service and de-escalation skills, with a commitment to treating every patient with dignity, respect, and compassion About Mercy Urgent Care Mercy Urgent Care is the only dedicated and mission-driven nonprofit urgent care network in the region.
