What You'll Do The Medical unit receptionist (MUR) role handles several hundred calls each day , responds to patient call bells by promptly notifying the appropriate nurse, and activates critical alerts such as stroke and heart attack . The position also coordinates with other units and providers to ensure messages are communicated to the appropriate parties in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will be comfortable utilizing multiple communication methods and computer programs simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, organization, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. Answer and manage a high volume of calls from patients, families, and visitors Respond to patient call bells and communicate needs to the appropriate nurse Activate stroke and heart attack alerts according to established procedures Use 4-6 computer programs simultaneously to support unit operations Multitask and prioritize requests in a high-pressure environment Communicate professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members Work closely with other team members in a collaborative workspace
