$16.00 - $20.00 per hour Job description: Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of a busy healthcare setting, supporting both clinical staff and patients alike. Duties Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently utilizing medical scheduling software. Verify patient insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries related to Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance plans. Maintain and update patient records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) confidentiality policies. Review documentation for accuracy, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to support proper billing and care plans. Manage phone communication with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing patient inquiries promptly. Support clinical staff by reviewing medical documentation, assisting with filing, and maintaining organized medical records in various EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Meditech. Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, typing, filing, and 10-key typing to ensure efficient office operations. Assist with front desk duties in dental or medical clinics, providing exceptional patient service from arrival to departure. Uphold office experience standards by maintaining a clean, organized reception area and ensuring smooth clinic flow. Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role. Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare billing and health information management. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and documentation review procedures. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry, and office management tasks. Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially following clinical confidentiality policies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with strong computer skills for managing electronic health records efficiently. Experience working in medical clinics is desirable; familiarity with health insurance knowledge is beneficial.
