. Senior Nursing Unit Secretary

A premier employer is seeking a Senior Nursing Unit Secretary to provide crucial administrative support to their perioperative services department. The ideal candidate has proven experience working with the public in the medical setting, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities of the Senior Nursing Unit Secretary

  • Answer phones, screen and direct calls, answer questions, and take messages
  • Schedule patients and surgical procedures
  • Design, analyze, and coordinate multiple calendars
  • Maintain, track, and send charts
  • Prepare and edit correspondence
  • Create forms, spreadsheets, databases, etc.
  • Create agendas and take minutes for meetings
  • Coordinate conferences/meetings and make travel arrangements
  • Perform budget tracking and record keeping procedures
  • Address billing concerns
  • Conduct on-the-job training for new staff members; direct special projects and/or the work of other employees, work study students, floats, temporary help, volunteers, etc.

  • High school diploma with 3 years of administrative support experience, or the equivalent required
  • Experience working with the public in a medical setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, Excel, PowerPoint, and MC Publisher
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working in high pressure situations and being around patients/patient specimens; OR experience is a plus This Senior Nursing Unit Secretary position works 6:30am-5:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
