Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative tasks. Your energetic approach and strong organizational skills will help ensure smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and efficient patient flow. The ideal candidate is motivated, tech-savvy, and passionate about delivering outstanding patient care support in a fast-paced medical environment. Duties Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming atmosphere at the front desk Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification, including Medicare and Medicaid processes Collect patient information accurately and update medical records in EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, including intake forms and documentation review for accuracy Assist with medical billing processes, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical collection efforts Maintain organized filing of medical records, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and support health information management Support clinic operations by managing appointment reminders, follow-up scheduling, and care plan documentation Perform clerical duties such as data entry, typing reports, filing documents, and using Microsoft Office tools to support office management Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks or Dentrix Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Proven clinic or medical office experience with front desk responsibilities and appointment scheduling Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and specialized healthcare software like Eaglesoft or Dentalxpress Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, documentation review, and insurance verification Knowledge of dental terminology is advantageous for dental clinic settings but not mandatory Join our team to make a positive impact on patient experiences while advancing your career in healthcare administration!
