Job Overview:
Performs clerical duties, reception duties, and requisition supplies, equipment and services as directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred Ability to perform all competencies of the position is required for employment in the position, Previous experience in a hospital or doctor s office setting preferred
Scheduling Requirements:
Shift:
Evenings 4pm to 830pm; Weekends 1230pm to 830pm Monday-Friday with every other weekend and holiday
Part Time Essential Functions:
Participates actively in meetings and projects to improve quality of service Participates in problem solving and supports initiation of changes that enhance patient care/unit function as requested Demonstrates flexibility of assignments Contributes to a culture of excellence by demonstrating self-motivation, adaptability, and reliability Utilizes the computer, printer, fax machine, and other supplies in a manner that achieves high productivity, cost effectiveness, and waste reduction Processes patient charges appropriate to the unit Assists with the maintenance and care of equipment and supplies Initiates maintenance requisitions for the necessary repairs on the unit Promotes a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for the patients, families, and co-workers Arranges follow-up appointments as ordered by the physician Calls other units for readiness of bed prior to patient transfer Arranges transportation of patient to other health care facilities in collaboration with the Charge Nurse Ensures that all necessary paperwork is completed and transferred with the patient Demonstrates the ability to use the clinical information system with minimal assistance Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital s accepted abbreviations and medical terminology Accurately transcribes orders from the physician order form to the Clinical Information System Files computerized printouts of transcribed orders for RN verification Creates and promotes an environment conducive to teamwork and performance improvement Attends meetings and departmental programs as requested Participates in inter and intra departmental activities, Communicates all messages received in the absence of requested personnel Makes necessary entries in the computer/written logs per unit specifications Performs other duties as requested
