Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist, where your energetic and detail-oriented approach will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. In this vital role, you will manage front desk operations, coordinate appointments, handle medical records, and ensure seamless communication between patients and healthcare providers. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing check-in and check-out procedures. Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Verify patient insurance coverage, process payments, and perform medical collections with accuracy and professionalism. Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality at all times. Manage incoming phone calls with excellent phone etiquette, providing information or directing inquiries to appropriate staff members. Review documentation for accuracy, including care plans, medical histories, and billing information; ensure proper coding with
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
codes for billing purposes. Support clinical staff by handling administrative tasks such as data entry, filing medical records, and managing electronic health records (EHR) systems. Assist with medical billing processes related to Medicare and other insurance providers while adhering to health information management standards. Perform basic clerical duties including typing reports, 10-key data entry, and preparing correspondence using Microsoft Office tools. Coordinate with healthcare providers to facilitate smooth clinic operations and patient flow. Skills Proven experience in a medical office environment or clinic setting with strong knowledge of medical administrative support functions. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; ability to navigate electronic health records efficiently. Knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare billing and understanding of health insurance terminology. Expertise in medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) for accurate documentation review and billing procedures. Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities. Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in accordance with HIPAA policies and clinical confidentiality standards. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10-key). Bilingual capabilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Prior clinic or dental clinic experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for specific systems used within our practice. Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
