Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative tasks. Your expertise in medical office procedures, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and health information management will help streamline clinic operations and enhance patient care. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and assist with appointment scheduling using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy, ensuring all documentation review and updates are completed in compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies. Handle phone communication professionally, providing excellent customer service while scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, and directing calls appropriately. Process medical billing and collections efficiently by understanding health insurance plans, Medicare guidelines, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical office billing procedures. Maintain accurate medical records by organizing electronic health records (EHR), updating care plans, and reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy. Support clinical staff by managing appointment calendars, coordinating follow-up visits, and assisting with medical administrative support tasks. Ensure compliance with clinical confidentiality policies and health information management standards at all times. Experience Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative role within a clinical setting. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and healthcare billing practices. Experience working in a clinic or dental office environment is advantageous. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and 10-key typing for data entry accuracy. Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional patient service while maintaining professionalism under pressure. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations. Prior experience with health insurance processes, Medicare guidelines, and clinical confidentiality policies is highly valued. Pay:
$20.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
