Job Description
Front Desk / surgery Scheduler Roles and Responsibilities Responsibilities will include greeting and checking in and out of all patients. You will monitor patient flow, handle multi-line phones, schedule appointments and confirm upcoming patient appointments. You will handle the processing of patient demographics and insurance information, scanning and maintaining patient records, collect and post co-payments and patient balances due, referring patients to specialists and communicating with doctors and staff. Assure block times are maintained for surgeons Demonstrates knowledge of managed care plans and knows which procedures require preauthorization Schedules, reschedules, and cancels cases as directed Effectively communicates any changes in the schedule to the patients Obtains necessary admission information during scheduling procedures (insurance information and correct demographics) Assures all required components are received for accurate scheduling Effectively communicates with patients, their family, physicians, physicians' staff and fellow employees Performs other duties as assigned Candidate must have a friendly, energetic and outgoing personality. Attention to detail, organization, and multi-tasking is a must for success in this position. Competence with computer data entry for Medical Practice Management system and EHR is required. Knowledge of insurances to include Medicare, Medicaid, PPO and HMO necessary. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience Requirements Medical Front Office Experience - Minimum of 2 years One year minimum of experience scheduling surgery Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel; Medical office software Strong data entry and telephone skills. Self-Motivated with problem-solving skills Previous experience in Women's Health or other related fields is preferred. Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred.
