Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Receptionist/Intake Scheduler to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines front desk responsibilities with patient intake coordination, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all visitors and patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures. Duties Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through the check-in process Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and assist with insurance verification processes Manage multi-line phone systems, answer inquiries promptly, and direct calls appropriately with professional phone etiquette Review and update patient documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies Maintain organized medical records, including filing, data entry, and electronic health records (EHR) management Support clinical staff by coordinating appointment times, preparing intake forms, and assisting with documentation review for care plans and billing Requirements Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred, especially in clinic or dental practice experience Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical billing procedures Familiarity with health insurance processes including Medicare and Medicaid verification Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing speed of at least 10 key digits per second Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion in accordance with HIPAA regulations Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and appointment scheduling Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—and a friendly demeanor to foster positive patient interactions Join our team where your organizational talents and passion for patient care will make a meaningful difference!
