Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and bilingual (Chinese-speaking) Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and a welcoming environment for all patients. Responsibilities Greet and assist patients in person and over the phone with professionalism and warmth, ensuring excellent patient service and communication in both Chinese and English. Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and coordinate clinical calendars using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks. Verify patient insurance coverage, process medical billing, and handle collections with accuracy while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Review medical documentation, including care plans, medical records, and clinical notes for completeness and compliance with health information management policies. Assist with electronic health records (EHR) management, ensuring proper documentation review, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and data entry using systems like Athenahealth or other EHR platforms. Handle phone communication with patients, providers, insurance companies, and vendors using proper phone etiquette and clear typing skills (including 10-key typing). Maintain a clean, organized front desk area while managing office supplies, medical records requests, and clerical support tasks efficiently. Support clinical staff by managing appointment reminders, follow-up scheduling, and ensuring adherence to clinical confidentiality policies. Stay informed about health insurance policies such as Medicare and Medicaid to assist patients with billing inquiries or documentation requirements. Experience Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is required; clinic experience is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is essential. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-9/10, CPT), medical billing procedures, and health insurance processes including Medicare is necessary. Bilingual fluency in Chinese and English is required to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) along with familiarity with electronic health records management are essential. Proven ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Strong organizational skills combined with clerical experience in a healthcare environment will ensure success in this role.
