Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service while managing the front desk operations of our medical facility. This role requires proficiency in various medical software systems and a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding, and billing processes. The Medical Receptionist will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth communication between patients and healthcare providers, as well as maintaining accurate medical records. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression of the clinic. Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, cancellations, and rescheduling. Handle incoming calls on multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy. Verify patient insurance information and assist with insurance claims processing. Maintain accurate patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data security. Assist in medical billing and coding tasks using CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 standards. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness before submission to relevant parties. Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and maintaining organized medical records. Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate care plans and ensure efficient patient flow through the clinic. Qualifications Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology, coding (ICD coding), and billing processes is essential. Proficiency in EHR systems; experience with Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; typing skills are necessary for documentation tasks. Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient satisfaction and effective communication. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to enhance patient interactions. Knowledge of dental terminology is a plus for those working in dental clinics or offices. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
