Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our vibrant dental practice. In this role, you will be the friendly face and efficient coordinator that ensures smooth daily operations at the front desk. Your energetic approach will help create a welcoming environment for patients while managing essential administrative tasks. You will serve as a vital link between patients, clinical staff, and insurance providers, supporting the delivery of exceptional dental care through effective communication and organization. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring a positive first impression. Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks, while managing calendar updates efficiently. Verify patient insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with expertise in health insurance knowledge including Medicare and HIPAA compliance. Maintain precise medical records and documentation review to ensure accuracy in patient files and clinical notes. Manage phone communication with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and active listening skills to address patient questions or concerns promptly. Assist with clinical administrative support tasks such as CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and documentation review to support accurate billing processes. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for report generation, data entry, and correspondence to streamline office operations. Uphold confidentiality policies related to medical records and health information management in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Support front desk operations by managing patient flow, handling appointment reminders, and maintaining a clean, organized reception area. Experience Prior clinic experience or medical office experience is highly preferred, demonstrating familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare workflows. Proven clerical experience with strong computer skills including proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms. Experience in medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and Medicare claims processing is advantageous. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. Strong customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence and office experience in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of health insurance policies, health information management practices, and clinical confidentiality policies is essential. Excellent organizational skills including typing (10 key typing), data entry accuracy, and time management to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
