Job Description

Tess Gilmore with Robert Half is working with a client to source a Medical Secretary for their expanding team. This individual will work closely with the Practice Administrator and Office Manager to keep the day to day operations of the clinic running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Directed by the Practice Administrator, gives instructions to patients as ordered by physicians
  • Answers all calls, greeting the caller in a professional manner.
  • Documents all conversations and work done on behalf of patients in the patient's electronic health record.
  • May obtain preauthorization, when necessary.
  • May check in and out patients, collect co-pays when applicable.
  • Processes medication refill requests and routes to the appropriate provider
  • Schedules patients for appointments, imaging, and initiates referrals on the patient's behalf as directed by the provider
  • Manages incoming faxes and scans outside records into the EMR when necessary
  • Displays consistent positive and polite approach towards patients, vendors, management, and co-workers.
  • Maintains clean, orderly, and organized work stations.
  • Reliable and flexible, keeping absences and tardiness to a minimum, acceptable standard.
  • Attend all staff meetings, training, and/or testing.
  • Resolves problems either independently or by knowing when appropriate to seek out another resource
  • Work varying/longer schedules when needed by the Practice
