Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical office operations. This role offers an engaging opportunity to support patient care through efficient front desk management, appointment scheduling, EMR System, and medical records handling. The position operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing a stable and structured work environment that values professionalism and patient service excellence. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression while managing check-in and check-out procedures. Schedule appointments accurately. Verify patient insurance information, process medical billing, and assist with collections in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health insurance policies. Manage electronic health records (EMR) systems including documentation review, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Handle phone communication with patients, providers, and insurance companies using proper phone etiquette and effective verbal skills. Support administrative tasks such as data entry, filing medical records, and managing office supplies. Assist in coordinating care plans by reviewing documentation and ensuring accurate recordkeeping within EMR/EHR platforms like ModMed. Maintain a clean, organized front desk area while adhering to office policies related to health information management and clinical confidentiality. Qualifications Proven 1-2 years experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative support role. Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as ModMed. Experience with medical billing, collections, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), Medicare processes, and health insurance procedures. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel; strong computer skills are required for documentation review and data entry tasks. Bilingual skills are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies, HIPAA compliance standards, and medical terminology is essential for success in this role.
