Job Summary The Unit Clerk performs all clerical, communication, and receptionist functions necessary to support clinical, both professional and ancillary activities on the patient care units. The unit clerk participates in the actualization of the Vision and Mission of the Montefiore Health system and the Schaffer Extended care Center. The unit Clerk adheres to the elements and provisions of the Montefiore Health System Compliance Program including the annual training requirements. Essential Functions 1.Assists in providing a safe and clean environment by complying with Schaffer's policies and procedures, Department of health regulations and OSHA guidelines 2.Provides for patient confidentiality, privacy and dignity 3. Protects patient/visitor/co-workers by adhering to infection prevention policies and protocols 4.Responds to emergency situation's Reports hazardous situations 5.
Customer Services:
Interacts with patient/family/visitors and provides feedback to nurse, NCC and Administrator Coordinator 6.Maintains patient medical records from admission, transfer and discharge 7. Contributes to the compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients and family. 8.Assists with admissions, transfer and discharges 9.Maintains inventory of supplies, forms and equipment and places orders when indicated 10 Acts as the unit receptionist 11. Fosters cooperative relationships and a positive work relationship with co- workers and other departments 12. Participates in the problem solving process used to ensure quality of care 13.
