Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service at the front desk. Schedule patient appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Verify insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries with precision. Manage patient records by updating and maintaining electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing information or directing calls appropriately while practicing excellent phone etiquette. Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring proper coding with CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 codes, and Medicare requirements for billing purposes. Assist with medical office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining medical records with attention to detail. Support clinical staff by preparing care plans documentation and coordinating patient flow within the clinic environment. Maintain knowledge of health insurance policies and procedures related to medical billing and coding processes. Ensure compliance with clinical confidentiality policies and health information management standards at all times. Skills Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clerical skills. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and Medicare billing procedures. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation review and administrative tasks. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinic setting. Exceptional customer service abilities combined with effective phone communication and phone etiquette skills. Bilingual capabilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Prior clinic experience or dental clinic experience is a plus; familiarity with health insurance policies enhances performance in this role. Ability to maintain clinical confidentiality policies rigorously while managing sensitive patient information. Demonstrated ability to handle medical scheduling, filing, 10-key typing, and health information management accurately.
