Job Description
Medical Receptionist Team Lead JDC Pediatrics, an independent pediatric practice, is seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Medical Receptionist Team Lead to join our team. This is a hands-on working lead position . The Team Lead performs the day-to-day responsibilities of a medical receptionist while also helping coordinate front-office workflow, supporting and guiding reception staff, and serving as a resource for routine questions and issues. This is not a management position. The Team Lead works under the direction of the Practice Administrator and Billing Supervisor and does not have independent authority over personnel, finances, or practice operations. Responsibilities Perform routine medical receptionist and front-desk duties Greet patients and families and provide professional, courteous service Schedule appointments and assist with daily patient flow Update patient demographics, insurance information, and medical records Collect copayments, balances, and other patient payments Answer and appropriately route telephone calls and patient messages Arrange referrals and obtain insurance authorizations when needed Help coordinate daily front-office workflow Serve as a resource for reception staff regarding routine questions, policies, and procedures Assist with training and orientation of new front-office employees Help ensure established office procedures are followed consistently Identify workflow or staffing concerns and communicate them to management Lead by example in professionalism, teamwork, reliability, and patient service Qualifications Prior medical receptionist or medical office experience required Lead, senior-level, or staff training experience preferred Strong knowledge of medical office procedures and front-desk operations Ability to guide and support coworkers while maintaining positive working relationships Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy medical office Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong computer, typing, and telephone skills Experience with electronic medical record/practice management systems; Medent experience is a plus Familiarity with HIPAA requirements, medical terminology, and insurance processes Dependable, adaptable, team-oriented, and comfortable taking initiative The ideal candidate is an experienced medical receptionist who is ready to take on additional responsibility and provide day-to-day leadership while remaining actively involved in front-desk duties.
