Our goal is to provide personalized, evidence-based care in a welcoming and efficient environment. We are looking for a dependable, personable, and highly organized Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator who can help us create an excellent experience for patients from their first phone call through completion of their visit. Because we are a small practice, this is a hybrid position involving both front-office and back-office responsibilities. The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with patients, is comfortable multitasking, and is willing to help wherever needed. The Role You will be an important part of the patient experience and daily flow of the office.

Responsibilities include:

Greeting and checking in patients Answering incoming phone calls and patient messages Scheduling and confirming appointments Verifying patient demographic and insurance information Collecting copays or other payments due at the time of service Ensuring registration forms, questionnaires, consents, and other required paperwork are complete before the physician visit Preparing patient charts before appointments Rooming patients Obtaining and documenting vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, and other appropriate measurements Reviewing and updating medication and allergy lists Ensuring relevant outside records and testing are available for the physician Assisting with patient checkout and scheduling follow-up appointments Scanning and uploading medical records and other documents Processing incoming and outgoing medical-record requests and referrals Maintaining organized and appropriately stocked exam rooms Assisting with general office organization and daily patient-flow needs After appropriate training, the position may also include assisting with home sleep study workflows, including preparing devices for patients, providing basic device-use instructions, tracking device distribution and returns, and helping ensure testing workflows are completed appropriately. Clinical questions or concerns requiring medical assessment or advice will be routed to the physician. This position does not include medical billing or insurance prior-authorization responsibilities. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Warm, professional, and welcoming with patients Dependable and punctual Highly organized and detail-oriented Comfortable switching between front-office and clinical responsibilities Able to multitask in a busy outpatient setting Comfortable answering phones and communicating with patients Proactive and willing to help wherever needed Comfortable using computers, electronic medical records, and other office technology Able to learn new workflows quickly Able to work independently while also functioning as part of a small team Qualifications Prior Medical Assistant or outpatient medical-office experience is preferred. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program is strongly preferred. CMA, CCMA, or similar certification is preferred but not required. Current BLS certification is preferred. Experience in sleep medicine, obesity medicine, primary care, endocrinology, pulmonology, or another outpatient specialty is helpful but not required.
