Job Description
Job Summary Strong Foundation Behavioral Health Clinic is seeking a professional, dependable, and compassionate Temporary Medical Receptionist to provide front office support for approximately 3-6 months . The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality in a behavioral health setting. This position may be extended or converted to a permanent position based on clinic needs and performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Answer and direct incoming telephone calls. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments. Verify demographic and insurance information. Check patients in and out using the electronic health record (Athenahealth experience preferred). Collect copayments, self-pay balances, and provide receipts. Scan, upload, and maintain patient records. Process incoming faxes, mail, and other correspondence. Monitor provider schedules and communicate appointment changes. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area. Ensure HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality. Assist providers and administrative staff with general office duties. Perform other administrative tasks as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of one year of medical office or customer service experience preferred. Behavioral health experience is a plus. Experience with Athenahealth or other electronic medical records preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Professional appearance and positive attitud Requirements Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment is highly preferred. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix is required. Knowledge of medical billing procedures, insurance verification processes, and health insurance policies including Medicare is essential. Familiarity with medical coding standards such as CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is necessary for accurate documentation review. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for administrative support tasks. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person while maintaining professionalism. Bilingual abilities are a plus to assist diverse patient populations. Attention to detail in handling medical records, documentation review, and health information management is critical. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, printers, telephones, and scanners.
