General Position Summary:

Urgent Care TX is committed to being the best walk-in urgent care so we are looking for team members who have a deep passion for patient care and enjoy being part of a team. Applicants should be open to working 12-hour shifts as we have extended hours to better serve our patients. Applicants should be comfortable performing both clerical, medical billing and patient care duties. They will also need to enjoy working in a team setting and sincerely have a passion for patient care. The Medical Receptionist gathers and records required information about patients; provides specific customer services which include screening for financial eligibility, confirming health insurance coverage and individual's obligations, obtaining necessary authorizations for care, scheduling appointments, phones, medical billing, cash handling, working referrals, and assisting patients in an office or clinic setting.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
  • Welcome, register and checkout patients. Collect and record patient payments. Respond to patient questions and answerphones.
  • Work with the NextGen team to ensure that the organization is maximizing its charges.
  • Provide administrative support to the clinic manager.
Job Scope:
Position is expected to be able to follow prescribed policies and procedures, and work independently with a minimum of supervision. Expected to contribute as a member of small well-coordinated teams. This position regularly works directly with patients, physician staff, and other clinical staff members.
Specific Job Skills:
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work well with others inside and outside the organization,
  • Excellent detail and well organized
  • Able to communicate well orally and in writing.
  • Proficient with email, word processing and spreadsheet software.
Education and/or
Experience:
  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years of relevant experience preferred. Experience in health care center helpful, but not required.
  • 1-2 years of medical or business industry experience.
