Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative tasks. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Schedule patient appointments efficiently while managing multiple calendars and ensuring timely follow-ups. Collect and process payments, insurance information, and outstanding balances with precision using medical billing and coding knowledge including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and Medicare guidelines. Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies and health information management standards. Handle incoming calls professionally with excellent phone etiquette; direct inquiries to appropriate staff members or departments. Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents correctly and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems regularly. Support clinical staff by managing care plans documentation, reviewing patient histories, and assisting with administrative support tasks such as data entry and filing. Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role with clinic experience preferred. Strong computer skills including proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with Microsoft Office suite is essential. Knowledge of health insurance procedures, health information management, and medical billing practices including CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and Medicare guidelines. Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide outstanding patient service; bilingual abilities are a plus. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion following HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review, filing, typing (including 10 key typing), and office management tasks. Prior clerical experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable; familiarity with office equipment such as phones, fax machines, and scanners is required. Demonstrated ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and courtesy at all times. $11.00 - $12.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 per week
